we got our Kia EV6 and loving it, but this remote climate control for defrosting is confusing!

we wanted to use the app to:
Warm the car up (22°C)
Defrost the front and back windshields
Heat the steering wheel
All while plugged into my PodPoint charger at home.

Here's the thing:
The charging is set to off-peak hours, will that mess with the app commands?
Can't tell if the car actually heats up remotely? Unlike my old Leaf, there's no sound cue. Any visual signs inside the car?
App says "Climate Control Activated" but then mentions "completed in 5 minutes" - is that enough for defrosting in cold climates?
Where are the individual controls for defrost and heated steering in the app?
Tried using the app at 6:30 and 7:01 am this morning, but the car was still frosty at 7:30! Ended up manually defrosting with the car on, which isn't ideal.

Any Kia EV6 owners out there with experience in defrosting app?

It sounds like we might have the same problem I had earlier. In my case, a simple software update fixed everything, and both the heater and pre-heating started working perfectly.

I wanted to warm up my car using the remote climate control feature, but it was a bit confusing. I had notifications saying it was activated, but when I got in, it was still cold, just like you mentioned.

I reached out to Kia Connect support, and they told me they’re aware of issues with remote climate control. As for your question about charging during off-peak hours, it shouldn't interfere with the app commands, but it can be tricky to tell if the heating actually kicks in since there aren’t any sound cues. The app does say "Climate Control Activated," but I wonder if five minutes is enough to properly defrost everything in cold weather, especially when it feels like forever.

I also wish there were clearer controls for defrosting and heated steering in the app. It sounds like you had to go the manual route, which is definitely not ideal. Hopefully, some other EV6 owners can share their tricks.

I faced the same scenario with my remote climate control. It can be so misleading when the app says it’s activated but the car is still cold. I wish there were better indicators, too, especially when it’s freezing outside.

I've been shopping around for a 2024 EV6 GT-Line Pack 2, and honestly, the whole experience has been pretty frustrating. It's really disappointing to hear about all the technology issues people are having with these new cars. I hate it when that happens.

It’s so frustrating when the app shows it’s activated but the car still feels cold. A clearer indicator would help.

It’s a bug. Uncheck “defrost” and the remote heating will warm up the car. Check defrost and all it does is blow freezing cold air at the windscreen, and apply no heat to the screen or car so it will not defrost and the car will remain clock cold. Kia have been aware for 3 years, have done nothing to fix it and go silent when you ask about it. Kind of like the zombie mode fix that doesn’t fix zombie mode.
