Anyone using the Kia Charge App lately, especially in Europe? I'm planning a road trip in my EV6 and want to figure out the best charging options. The Kia Charge basic rates seem cheaper than Elli or Electroverse in some spots, but worried about surprise VAT or other fees, especially when traveling.

Italy is my usual destination, and public charging is a must since family has no home charger and the old charger won't cut it. I have Elli and Electroverse cards. Hoping to hear some recent experiences with the Kia Charge App in France, especially regarding hidden fees and overall cost compared to other options.

That sounds like an epic road trip huh. For charging on the go, I've been using Octopus Electroverse and found it to be a more affordable option compared to the advertised Kia Charge. You can't go wrong with Electroverse. Trust me. Be safe on your trip!

I recently took a trip of about 3,000 miles using the Kia Charge Card, primarily at Ionity, and found it quick and easy. The charges matched what Kia advertised, but I noticed European charges processed slowly.

If you're planning a road trip in your EV6, the Kia Charge App could be a good option, especially since its basic rates seem cheaper in some areas than Elli or Electroverse. And also keep an eye out for any hidden VAT or fees while charging in Italy, as I found that can be a concern.

I use the Easy Kia charge card, so I don't get any price discounts. To be honest, we don't use public chargers very often, mostly just on longer trips.

The Easy Kia card works with most charging networks, but not all. So, it's good to have a backup plan, like a different charging app or my bank card, just in case. I've occasionally encountered chargers that don't accept the Easy Kia card.

It's convenient to have one card for most charging situations, but it's not perfect. Plus, more and more chargers are now accepting contactless payments with my bank card, which makes things even easier. I'm starting to wonder if these charging cards are becoming a bit less necessary these days.

It sounds like the Easy Kia card has its benefits, but with increasing acceptance of contactless payments and apps like Google Pay or Apple Pay at many chargers, you might not need the card as much. Are you finding that you use your backup payment method more often, or does the card still cover most of your needs?

I travel frequently with my EV6 to France, Italy and beyond. The Kia Card is useful but often the most expensive option. Electroverse has pretty good coverage and usually the cheapest (e.g. Ionity).

The third card I take is the Chargemap card. Not needed in the UK but has unmatched coverage in Europe. Often it is the only one of the three that works - especially when charging from some of the smaller local networks. Price is about in the middle between Electroverse and Kia.

One option Chargemap has is to take a subscription to Ionity and for £7 per month bring the price down 20 cents per Kwh. That brings it lower than the Electroverse price. The subscription can be taken for just a month at a time and so good if you know you will do several charges in the month. Mind you Ionity is well known as being reliable and fast and so their charging stations tend to be a lot busier than others.

You can also link Chargemap to Tesla and so use most of their superchargers. You have to cope with taking up two spaces as the port is on the other side to a Tesla. But OK if you don’t mind stares from the Tesla owners.

Generally the EV charging network in Europe is well ahead of the UK. France in particular. Puts the UK to shame.
