does full-time awd mode wear out tires faster on the ev6?

I’ve been driving my 2022 EV6 GT-Line AWD since May 2022 and have put 32,000 miles on it. I’m wondering how full-power mode (AWD) affects tire wear and range if I drive in it all the time without launching hard or flooring it constantly.

- Has anyone else kept their EV6 in AWD full-power mode long-term?
- How much faster do the tires wear compared to using Eco or Normal mode?
- Does it noticeably impact range over time?

Also, my front stock Continentals are shot, and I had a road hazard replacement on the right rear, so rotation isn’t an option. I might need to replace three tires, but I’d rather switch to a better set than go with the same ones again.

Has anyone tried the ExtremeContact DWS06 Plus? It looks like a solid, sporty option. How do they handle on an EV6? How is road noise and comfort? Where’s the best place to get them at a good price?

So, first, full-power mode means impact on both tire wear and range over time.
EV AWD doesn't use a mechanical connection, as we know about the traditional systems. This is why the front tires always get wore out.
Also, when you are in Sport mode, the response time is increased. This means that the AWD is more engaged.
It is a significant wear difference from full awd to Eco or nomal more.

I don't have any experience with the ExtremeContact DWS06 Plus. I hope this helps.

32,000 miles? So you're thinking of just leaving it in full-power AWD all the time? Those tires are gonna wear out a little quicker even if you're not trying to do burnouts at every light. Both motors working all the time means more tire wear you;ll also lose a bit of range but if you're not driving like a maniac it won't be that bad. Those stock Continentals they don't last forever. The DWS06 Plus tons of people love them good grip, sporty feel, and not too noisy. They should be perfect for your EV6. For the best price, just do a quick search on Tire Rack, Discount Tire, or Amazon. Anyone else running those tires on their EV6? What do you think?"

AFAIK, the E-GMP platform has on-demand awd, and it's mostly rwd. That's actually pretty common in EVs, it's different from those constant all-wheel drive systems in some gas cars.

Full-power mode can burn through tires a little faster and eat into your range, but it’s no biggie unless you’re driving aggressively. The DWS06 Plus tires are a solid pick—awesome grip, low road noise, and surprisingly comfy for a sporty tire.
