I’ll be away for a few months during the winter and will leave my new EV6 in the garage. I plan to charge it to 80% using my Level 2 charger before I leave, but I’ll disconnect the charger once it's done. I’ve also been advised to keep a 12V battery tender connected to the 12V battery while I'm gone. Does this sound like the right approach? Any tips would be appreciated!

I've been using a battery tender for years already when I'm gonna sit my car for a bit. And I always disconnect the HV to 12V switch first. No problems ever since.

Looks like a solid plan! Just keep an eye on the garage temp, extreme cold can mess with the battery. If you can, check the 12V battery remotely or have someone give it a quick check every now and then.

That is the correct way to store your EV6 during winter. Charging to 80% is ideal and unplugging the charger is important to prevent any unnecessary battery drain. Keeping a 12V battery tender connected is helpful as those batteries can lose charge quickly while the car sits. just make sure everything is properly connected before you leave and you should be good.

Good take planning it out. I'm interested to know how it works out. 80 percent charge is spot on you don't want it sitting at 100. Disconnecting the Level 2 charger is smart too no need to keep it plugged in. That 12 volt battery tender though that's where you're really thinking ahead. Those little batteries can drain quick especially in the cold. It'll keep it topped up and prevent any headaches when you get back. Make sure it's a good quality tender and you've got it hooked up right.
