I’m staying near a Tesla Supercharger site (Banbury) and decided to give it a try with my Kia EV6. I’m happy to report it works perfectly! I plugged in at 75%, so my charging speed was only 42kW, but overall, it was a smooth experience.

🚨 Heads-up for anyone setting up a Tesla account! Make sure you set the language to EN-GB, because it defaults to EN-US, and that won’t let you enter a UK billing address. Took me a minute to figure that out!

Also, Tesla uses dynamic pricing, but in this case, it was actually cheaper than the Osprey station next door.

I’ve seen a few people mention issues with Tesla chargers and the EV6, but mine worked just fine. Has anyone else tried this? What was your experience?

The problem is that the max charging rate is capped at around 42kW even on ultra-rapids. It’s not really worth using when the SOC is low unless you’ve got a lot of time to spare, haha!

Glad to hear your experience was smooth! I’ve heard mixed reviews, but it seems like dynamic pricing can work out well. Thanks for the tip on the language setting.

Awesome to hear you got the EV6 charging smoothly at the Banbury Supercharger! It's great to know that the compatibility is working out for you and even better that the pricing was competitive. 42kW at 75% SOC is pretty typical those speeds ramp down as the battery fills. It's really interesting to see the Supercharger network opening up and how different EVs handle it. Anyone else have EV6 Supercharger stories to share?
