I took my EV6 to a car audio shop to upgrade the sub. Turns out, the sub wasn't even bolted down and was covered by this weird insulation.

I took the cover off, and the bass is way better now, even at max.

Any ideas on how to fix it properly?

Hmmm... The cover is there to prevent the plastic panel from rattling. It's a standard feature on all cars, so removing it might lead to annoying noises. You might experience the rattle of the plastic panel. I hope I'm wrong though.

First ensure the subwoofer is securely bolted using appropriate brackets or mounting hardware. You can also add sound-deadening material around the enclosure for improved clarity and reduced vibrations.

Wow, that’s surprising. Maybe try adding some proper mounting hardware or consult the shop for advice on securing it safely without losing the sound improvement.
