I’ve been wondering, can an OBD2 dongle with a cellular connection replicate Kia Connect’s remote features? If the right commands can be sent via OBD2, would it be possible to lock/unlock the doors, remote start, or even check vehicle status without needing Kia’s official service?

I know some third-party apps allow for basic OBD2 functions, but has anyone successfully executed full remote commands through an external device? Would love to hear from anyone who's tried!

@Brian_Irons Afaik! I'm not sure if the feature you're looking for is possible. I haven't tried using an OBDII dongle with cellular myself. However, key fobs do have those features like remote start, locking/unlocking, etc., except for running car diagnostics.

Great question, while some OBD2 dongles can provide basic vehicle data, replicating remote functions like locking, starting, or checking status might require specific access to Kia’s proprietary systems.
