12V Battery Failure

Okay, so my EV6 decided to hit me with its first 12V battery failure at 30k miles. Thankfully, I was ready and had a small charger on hand, so I didn’t totally freak out. But now I’m curious, has anyone else run into this? Especially after the whole recent ICCU recall.... Is this becoming a thing, or am I just the unlucky one here?

I’ve had to replace two 12V batteries in my EV6 within 20,000 miles. The batteries in these cars seem to be pretty cheap. I also installed a Bluetooth monitor to keep track of it.

Wow, two batteries in 20k miles?? That's rough! At least it's a bit of a relief knowing I’m not the only one in this boat. I’ve been thinking about adding a monitor myself - anything in particular you'd recommend? I want to avoid getting caught off guard again.

I also got that recall sorted out. Luckily, no issues with the ICCU, so they just updated the software. They kept the car overnight to check for any parasitic draw, and all seemed good. But, of course, the battery was dead the next morning, so they swapped it out. Everything’s been running smooth ever since, though it’s only been a couple of weeks!

The monitor I use is the Battery Tender Wireless Monitor, it’s simple to install and sends updates straight to my phone. It’s been super helpful in catching issues early. Not sure if it is the same for @Toby
