Today, I noticed something strange while out on a quick 15-mile trip in my EV6. Near the end of the drive, a heavy VOC-type smell started to fill the cabin. It wasn’t exactly like gasoline (since, well, we’re in an EV!), more like a paint-thinner or solvent smell. When we got home, I checked all around the car to see if I could find the source, and it seemed strongest around the front passenger-side wheel well.

I double-checked the tire pressures, all good there, and then even popped the hood to see if anything looked or smelled off, but nothing unusual up front. I’m wondering if maybe I drove over something without noticing, though I tend to keep an eye on the road pretty closely.

Has anyone else encountered something like this? I’m hoping it’s just something temporary, but thought I’d ask here in case it’s a known quirk or if others have experienced anything similar.

Sounds like you’ve already checked quite a few things, good call on checking the tires and under the hood. If it smells like a solvent, it could be from something picked up on the road, like fresh road paint or a construction material. You could try washing down the wheel well area to see if that helps clear it up. If it lingers, it might be worth a quick check with the dealer to rule out anything unexpected. But that'll cost you a bit, so better check it yourself first.

Ohh man, I remember I had a similar smell in my EV6 once, and it turned out to be a buildup from the brake system. After driving, it faded.
