Just sharing some interesting observations comparing my EV6 to my previous Chevy Bolt. the Bolt is supposed to be more efficient with 130 MPGe city vs. 110 for the EV6, but in practice, I’m getting better numbers with the EV6. Here’s what I’m seeing:
On my daily drives, I’m hitting over 5 mi/kWh in the EV6, while my Bolt was closer to 3.5 mi/kWh under similar speed limits. For context, I did just tint the windows on the EV6, and it stays in a garage (helps with AC needs). The Bolt used to sit outside, which likely affected its efficiency, especially in summer.
The AC in the EV6 uses about 15% of the budget, and even after parking outside during lunch, it holds up well. I think the Bolt had a tougher time here; even when I tried driving without AC, it still averaged around 4.12 mi/kWh max.
I’m curious if others have noticed similar trends when switching EVs. The numbers make me wonder if it’s just the differences in each car’s setup or the effect of little adjustments like window tinting and garage parking. Either way, the EV6 has surprised me in a good way, my Bolt might only be seeing action now to save wear and tear on my new ride until the lease ends!
