Hey everyone, I’ve been enjoying my Kia EV6 Wind AWD and its smooth charging experience at home, up until about two weeks ago. After a recent software recall update, I’ve noticed a significant drop in the charging rate, and I’m trying to figure out whether it’s an issue with my car or my charger.

Here’s the setup: I use an Emporia Level II charger connected to a 60-amp dedicated breaker, configured for a max charge rate of 48A (11.5 kW). Previously, everything worked perfectly, and the charger would stay steady at 48A. Now, when I plug in my EV6, it starts charging at 48A but drops to 30A after about 15 minutes.

I took the car back to Kia, but they couldn’t pinpoint the issue. They didn’t have the app to measure the charge rate directly, so they suggested I monitor it at home and return with the car at 30% battery to compare my charger’s performance with theirs.

Has anyone else experienced something similar? Could this be related to the software recall? Or is it possible my Emporia charger has developed an issue?

So, did it happen AFTER after the car was recalled? Then your setup is not wrong at all. In this case, the recall did something "bad" to the car. In the end, they have to take responsibility. Though, I would check the charger, too. Cuz, why not?
